2100 Nursery Rd, Minesing, ON    Jim Hamilton Field

House league flag rugby is our core offering for all players and runs from the beginning of May to the end of June and takes place Tuesday and Thursday nights at the Barrie Community Sports Complex between 6pm and 7.30pm. At house league level we play non-contact flag rugby with 7 kids on a team to maximise touches of the ball. The contact program (which is tackle rugby) pulls from house league and they play 11-aside modified contact games at minor rugby festivals held on weekends in the Southern Ontario ready. The contact program runs from the beginning of May until the end of July with tackle team practices taking place immediately after house league play ends. No prior experience is required to enjoy the game and be competitive, many kids are still new to the game at u11 level. The tackle teams are co-ed up to u11 but if we have enough girls and another club has an all girls u11 tackle team we ensure they get the opportunity to play each other.

Flag Rugby v Contact Rugby

You do not need to play contact rugby to enjoy the game and become proficient in the sport. If your child is uncertain if they want to play contact (tackle) rugby from the start of the season then just register them for the House League flag rugby in the first instance. They can watch a few tackle practices as the season progresses and if they want to play contact rugby we can do a registration upgrade to cover the additional field and insurance costs which are approximately $100. If they are happy playing flag rugby only it will have no impact whatsoever on their long term rugby career!

About Us

The Barrie Rugby Football Club represents the county of Simcoe and surrounding area in the Ontario Rugby Union and competitively fields men, women and youth teams. A legacy that started in 1967 the Barrie RFC has a steep history of fielding competitive sides with minimal numbers. Its players have competed at the national and provincial level while remaining loyal to the club and never failing to remember their kinship with blue stripes.
